We measure the size of our trees from the bottom of the base to the top of the wooden stem. There is always a spray of leaves from the the tallest stem which can add up to 9 inches to the stated height. Some of our competitors include this in their overall height and sell a 5ft tree as a 6ft tree. If you are unsure just compare the leaf count of different sizes of tree. Artificial plants are referred to as replica or silk plants. In some circles they might be called plastic, false or even faux! Silk is a misnomer as the foliage is made of a polyester fabric. Some trees have inherently flame-retardant foliage. This is necessary for use in nightclubs, care homes, shopping centres, etc. See the Inherently Flame Retardant section. Fabric foliage will fray if used outside so we have a range of trees with plastic foliage for outdoor use. See the Topiary Section.
The stems of our trees are genrally real (treated) wood. The leaves are mounted on a plastic covered wire which allows you to bend the foliage into a natural shape.
All trees are of high quality and are very realistic, often, if not always, prompting the question "are they real?". Most trees are cemented into a 4-6in black plastic pot which holds the stems together (see Photo).
Your tree should be planted in a decorative planter to show it to its best advatage. We can pot your tree into a planter for you or you can use your own. Please note that in all our phots the trees are planted in pots, but these are not necessarily availaable to buy. Also the choice of pots available may differ according to the tree purchased. None of our planters are ceramic (they weigh a lot and break too easily in transit) so if you would like an Asian style ceramic or a genuine terracotta you will need to buy that locally. Our own pots are plastic or glassfibre but some are good enough to be mistaken for the real thing!

Silk flowers are not silk. They are made of a polyester fabric and are mounted on a plastic coated stem. Both the stem and the foliage are wired so you can bend it to a natural shape. Some foliage (especially orchids) is made from latex. All the flowers and the foliage are very realistic and often prompt the question when shown to customers “are they real?”. The flowers are generally of a far superior quality than can be found in your local retail shop and this is reflected in the price. The flower arrangements are potted in glass vases and fixed in “permanent water” or planted in ceramic, plastic or metal pots. Just tweak the flowers and foliage and they are ready for instant display making a perfect gift for birthday, Mother’s Day, Anniversary, Christmas etc

Our indoor foliage plants have fabric leaves on plastic coated wire stems. The individual foliage stems are joined together by a thicker stem which has a rounded end. (see picture) We do not supply the pot in which to plant the plant. The plants need to be planted in a foam block which can be cut to fit into a pot. We can supply the foam block or they can be bought from a florist. Ask for “dri-foam” blocks.
